Final Reflection

I really enjoyed this class!  I felt like I learned a lot about all that is out there in technology and how easy it is to use it. I thought it was useful to learn how to make a website. I really want to make one for my class when I am a teacher. I feel like it would be very useful and an easy way to get the parents involved in the class. I also loved that blogging was a way for us to do our assignments and I think I would do the same for my students because it is convenient for them and for me and saves trees. I do think i will also make mini videos for my classes or just for fun because it was so simple and would be more enjoyable for my students. I really want to use more technology in my class because i think it is a good way to keep students interested as well. This class changed the way I viewed technology and physical education. I used to think that  they were not connected and that this class wouldn't apply to my major but I was wrong. I know that technology needs to be used and will be for my advantage. I will continue to look for programs to help me teach physical education.

mobile apps

I love mobile apps, they are very fun and convient. You  can do so many great things with them because of the variety and the convienence. I really dont think that I would use mobile apps in class. Apps are very individual and they are hand held so it would be impossible to keep the students on task. I think they are great to use as home work or as a tool to study.

Studio code and video analysis

Watching my video over and over has helped me see a few things that I need to work on. The biggest thing I noticed is that I am terrible at giving feedback. I kept looking for feedback in my video so i could click the button but could not find enough. Even if I did find feedback is was like one word and directed at the whole class instead of an individual.
I also noticed that I need to work on my cues. I did parachute so it was a little harder for me to give cues but I could have shown them how to move the parachute in a few words and then had them do it. I am sure if I would have done that things would have gone a lot smoother. I also was not very good at repeating the cues later for the students. I noticed more than anything how annoying my voice can be sometimes. I really needed to be more excited and stop saying "okay" over and over again!
For when I next teach I will be better at giving cues even if it is a hard lesson to give cues on. I improved in this area after this lesson and things went much smoother but I still need to work on repeating the cues. I also just need to focus on the class more and have fun with them. If I do that I  will be more enthusiastic and be better at giving individual feed back.

studio code....yay

I did studio code..yay. It was not as hard as I thought it would be. I think I everything right,  I am really not sure. My video that I uploaded was really not the best and I didn't realize it until afterwards. My microphone didn't work very well the whole time so I was not able to find things as easily to code.  I also picked the parachute lesson which doesn't have many cues or organization. I still was able to code, just small spurts!
I could use this in my own class because it really lets me see what I am doing and am not doing. I am not quite sure how I can apply to my students but it will help me grow as a teacher.

web 2.0

There were a lot of really cool web 2.0 things like on facebook and blogs. The things that I found to be most beneficial for me as a student and for my future students are the encyclopedias that are available. Even though wikipedia isn't the most reliable it is very handy. There are other encyclopedias that are on the web that do cost money but they are the most updated and correct information. This helps students to be able to easy find information and for me as a teacher that will be teaching about the human body and best things for it can always have updated and correct information.
I am trying really hard to think of ways facebook applies to education but I cant really think of much. It helps stay connected so in a way you could make a facebook page of you as a teacher and also maybe a group for your class to post things and get them interactive with the class. I think a website would probably be a little safer for this but I really don't know!

Commercial.dv

I am finally finished! It was a rougher process. Once I understood the program things were pretty easy. It was an easy program to just figure things out in which I really enjoyed. I did try to learn the iMovie 08 on my computer and it was terrible. I couldn't figure things out at all! Dan was right. I had to go to the lab which was a bummer but thats okay! I finished in the lab but I did something weird and the computer froze. I had to force quit and start over. Then I opened it on a different computer and started again and for some reason it wouldn't save. So I did it a third time and I started from scratch and it finally worked! It was frustrating but i got really good at the program and understand the basics enough. Keepvid.com was a cool website and helped me to make the video so much better, putting the music in was simple.
I really enjoyed this project and I feel like I will be able to make cool videos for my classes and it is would not take that much time. It will be harder since I only have iMovie 08 but hopefully i will update it soon and things will be more simple.
This was a great experience and I am excited to use this in the future in my class and just in my life!

iMovie

Kelsey and I filmed what we wanted to use in the commercial. We haven't really been able to work on iMovie yet but I was beginning to understand at the last class. We have an idea of music we want and we are hoping things will go smoothly as we put them together.
